The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety met for their regular meeting on Monday, April 8.
Fire Department Chief Steve Holm presented a disputed bill to the board to request resolution. The patient received services in 2018 but due to a mix up with an address, they never received a bill. The balance of $547 eventually went to collections. To withdraw the bill from collections, the City of Plymouth would be responsible for 15% of the total which is $82.13. The patient agreed to pay the 15% and requested that the bill be withdrawn from collections. The board approved the request as presented by Chief Holm.
In other news, Street Superintendent Jimmy Marquardt informed the board that Reith Riley is scheduled to start work on the Pioneer Drive, Gary Drive and Commerce Street Project on April 22; all construction is weather dependent. The public should be aware that traffic will be directed to accommodate construction.
In additional information released from the contractor, Commerce Drive will be closed to thru traffic starting April 22. At the same time, Pioneer Drive will be narrowed and reduced to one lane in each direction. Construction on Commerce is anticipated to take about one week. Pioneer Drive will be multi-phased to allow for proper traffic flow, with construction anticipated to take about two or three weeks. Construction along Gary Drive will commence once Pioneer Drive is fully opened. Gary Drive construction is anticipated to take approximately one or two weeks.
The board also approved a request by the J W Fisher Memorial Foundation to utilize an electronic message board for use during the Work Zone Awareness Campaign being held on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
