A Plymouth man was arrested Tuesday, April 2 after Plymouth Police Department officers were dispatched to the Economy Inn on North Michigan Street for a fight in progress.
Officers located two males who had been involved in an alleged physical altercation. The officer’s investigation determined that the intoxicated males had engaged in a verbal altercation before the suspect, Bill Ortiz, 44, of Plymouth, punched the second male in the face, causing injury, according to the report.
Ortiz was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and public intoxication.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
