Chief Martin informed the Council that the tasers will be obsolete as the batteries and cartridges are no longer being produced for the current model. Chief Martin submitted quotes with five year payment plans for the Taser 7 and Taser 10 models for their consideration. His preference was Taser 10 which is the newest model so they would last longer. The difference in cost between the models was less than $2,000. Vice President Terry Clemens made a motion to approve the agreement to purchase the Taser 10 bundle for a total of $24,569.03 to be paid over five years.
Chief Martin also submitted two quotes for Body Cameras – one from Axon Enterprise Inc. and the other from 10-8 Video Digital Evidence Solutions. After some discussion Chief Martin will submit a grant application in October to help cover the cost and the Council will assess the financial opportunities at that time.
Last month Chief Martin updated the Council that the applicants were doing well at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Officers Prater, Berry and Vermillion graduated on March 15.
