
A traffic stop conducted by officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department resulted in a drug arrest.
The incident occurred Tuesday, February 6 at 8:30 p.m. ET in the area of U.S. 30 and Rose Road.
During the investigation, the vehicle was searched and officers located suspected marijuana, ecstasy, and a loaded firearm, according to the report.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly gave a false name, but was later identified as Derek S. Daniels of Merrillville.
He was taken to the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, and false informing.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
