The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety met Monday, February 12 for their regular meeting.
Street and Sanitation Superintendent Jim Marquardt updated the board on bid pricing for gas and fuel. During the last meeting he was approved to move forward with locking the lowest price in for the year.
Gasoline for 2024 will cost $2.87 a gallon; last year was $3.03 a gallon.
Diesel fuel for 2024 will cost $3.32 a gallon; last year was $3.56 a gallon.
Fuel prices fluctuate daily; some days the city saves money while other days they lose money. The idea of locking in the fuel prices was to avoid any potential price spikes this year.
Additionally, the board revisited the street light request made by Mike Delp for the area between Jackson Heights to the end of Oakhill Cemetery. Marquardt consulted with NIPSO; the total cost associated with putting four lights on eight of the poles and the cost of electricity (which varies per month) will be $945.12 a year. He confirmed that the cost falls within the Utilities Department budget.
The board approved the request.
