The John Glenn School Corporation Board of Trustees approved a resolution to reorganize itself during last week’s meeting.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell explained that the reorganization is a result of the annexation of Greene Township into the school corporation so a township resident should have representation on the school board.
The superintendent explained that, currently, the school board is comprised of one seat from Johnson Township, two seats from Polk Township, two seats from Lincoln Township, and two seats from Liberty Township. The plan would be to reorganize the school board as follows: one seat from Johnson Township, one seat from Polk Township, one seat from Lincoln Township, one seat from Liberty Township, one seat from Greene Township, one seat from North District, and one seat from South District.
Superintendent Winchell explained to the board that the North District board member would have to reside in either Liberty or Greene Township and the South District board member would have to reside in either Johnson, Polk, or Lincoln Township. The board will continue to have seven members.
He went on to say that the plan will be advertised and if there are no oppositions to the plan, it will be submitted to the State Board of Education. It will not be until the State School Board approves the plan that the new boundaries would be official.
The vote to approve the resolution was unanimous.
