The Marshall County Plan Commission held its first meeting of the new year and opened with the annual reorganization of the board officers.
The Commission voted to keep the current officers in their current positions with David Hostetler as President, Craig Cultice as Secretary and Matt Miller as Vice President.
The board also heard a request for rezoning from Adam Rippy of a parcel of land in Walkerton from A-1 to A-3. The land would be used for construction of a house by the Glenn building trades class with the plan for construction either before this year is over or for next year. The home would be purchased by James Rippy as a retirement home. His current residence on a nearby plot is too large and would be purchased by his son.
The county Technical Review Committee (TRC) recommended the passage of the rezoning and it was approved by the Commission.
The board also heard from Brad Stackhouse of Bourbon with concerns regarding setbacks in farming areas. The board agreed to look at the wording in the current ordinance.
