The Plymouth Community School Corporation is making significant strides toward achieving K-8 STEM certification, a recognition encompassing Jefferson, Menominee, Webster, Washington Discovery Academy, Riverside Intermediate, and Lincoln Jr. High.
This initiative shows PCSC’s commitment to advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.
STEM certification entails integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into the curriculum, employing student-centered methods such as inquiry-based and problem-based learning. This is an effort of the corporation to prepare students for STEM careers.
Aligned with Indiana’s Priorities for STEM Education, Plymouth is enhancing STEM teaching methods, developing STEM educators, and improving access to STEM resources, with support from Equitable Education Solutions and the Indiana Department of Education.
Plymouth Community School Corporation has established STEM Leadership Teams at the K-8 level. These teams will define mission statements, vision, and curricular plans that align with the institution’s goals.
The pursuit of STEM certification aims to provide students with immersive STEM experiences that equip them for emerging STEM careers. PCSC aims to achieve this certification by 2025.
