Plymouth Community School Corporation Creates Student Leadership Group

Plymouth High School has put together a Student Leadership Group aimed at cultivating leadership qualities among its student-athletes.

“We believe that leadership is a vital skill for success in both sports and life,” said Josh Troyer, Athletic Director at Plymouth High School. “Our Student Leadership Group is designed to provide our student-athletes with the tools and knowledge they need to become exceptional leaders, not only within their teams but also within the broader community. We are excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on our students and the school as a whole.”

The Student Leadership Group will convene twice a month, from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. ET, providing student-athletes with a chance to explore leadership topics including positive leadership, discipline, servant leadership, pride, empathy, gratitude, GRIT, integrity, and confidence.

One of the primary goals of this group is to help students to have the tools they need to thrive, both on and off the field.

The program will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers connected to Plymouth or collegiate athletics. Each speaker will address topics relevant to that month’s theme, to provide insights and inspiration.

The selection process for the group was highly competitive. Students were recommended by their respective team’s coaches, with nominations limited to one upperclassman and one underclassman from each sport. Additionally, students were nominated by the administration based on their demonstrated leadership potential.

In total, 47 students have been chosen to join the first group.
