Burglary Investigation Results in Arrest

Richard Imel

A recent burglary investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department resulted in an arrest.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained a criminal report from Ken Houin, owner of Castle Storage, on August 28 that an unknown person had broken into a storage unit and had stolen items.

A deputy responded and took the report and continued with the criminal investigation. It was believed that the suspect was Richard Imel, from the Elkhart area.

The investigation was then turned over to the Detective Division. A report was completed and sent to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review. An arrest warrant was obtained for the arrest of Richard Imel.

Two detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department went to Elkhart Thursday, September 21 and located Richard Imel. He was arrested, transported to, and booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.

His bond is set at $10,000 cash.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
