Superintendent Jeremy Riffle informed the Triton Community School Board that it was “likely” that the school corporation would join in litigation that has been filed against companies that make vapes and vaping products.
Riffle said that Triton, along with several other corporations in the county, had been approached by the filers to join the suit whose main purpose was to bring attention to questionable marketing tactics the companies use to sell vaping products to children.
Lack of parental involvement and constant social media messages targeted at children were concerns of the litigation and the hope was the suit would educate the public on the tactics used to sell the products.
Riffle told the board that there was a possibility that the school corporation would receive some monetary resources to address the problem in the schools if the suit was successful.
