Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to an accident Saturday, July 8 at State Road 10 west of Nutmeg Road just before 11 p.m. ET.
Marshall County dispatch received a call of a train versus car accident. Police say it was found that the driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Ian Bastin of Plymouth, went around the lighted crossing arms as the train approached.
The train struck the vehicle causing the engine to come out of the vehicle. Bastin was able to make it to the roadway and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Argos Police Department, Argos Fire and EMS, and Norfolk Southern Railroad Police.
