The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved a request made by the Plymouth Public Library to place four directional signs; two at the intersection of Jefferson St. and Center St., and two at the intersection of Michigan St. and Washington St. directing people to the library. Communication Specialist for Plymouth Public Library confirmed that those signs will be provided by the library.
Toni Samuels of Toni’s Hair Hut requested two public parking places to be designated for her customers in front of her business located on 208 W. Laporte Street; Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Her request was to accommodate elderly and handicap customers who experience mobility difficulty for long distances and need to utilize the ramp. She indicated that an individual consistently parks in front of her building for long periods of time; interfering with access to the ramp and salon.
The board did not approve her request for two designated business parking only spaces in front of her building, but did agree to designating American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handicap parking spaces complete with an offloading area in the public parking lot next to her building.
In other news, Don Ecker will be sworn in to fill the vacancy on the board created by the retirement of Bill Walters; Ecker did attend the meeting remotely.
