Personnel items were a big part of the agenda for the Plymouth School Board during their meeting Tuesday.
One appointment was in absentia as the board officially approved the hiring of Josh Troyer as the Athletic Director at Plymouth High School. Troyer was previously named the AD pending School Board Approval which was given Tuesday night.
Troyer is a graduate of Manchester High School and received his MBA in sports management and has experience in the classroom and as a head coach.
Also part of the agenda was a transfer that related to another hiring. Plymouth’s current Director of Security will be leaving his post but he won’t have to go far to his new office as he will become the new Head of Transportation at the corporation.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter praised Brown for his service and professionalism in his time as Head of Security and now for his help in the transition. That transition will be to former Plymouth High School graduate Ward Byers. Byers has an extensive background in law enforcement and most recently was Marshall County’s Director of Community Corrections.
Byers thanked the board for “…a chance to serve,” at his alma mater. Brown had a chance to address the board for the first time in his new position updating the board on safe walking zones to school. The department looked at each of the school boundaries and developed safe routes to each of the various schools around the city.
Brown presented maps of the outlined zones for the Plymouth schools and the guidelines that will be given to parents of students that will walk to school.
