Thursday afternoon at 3:54 p.m. ET the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a reckless driver in the area of Academy Drive at Culver Military Academy.
The caller advised that a white Ford SUV was being driven by a possibly impaired female.
At that time another call was received about a man knocking on doors on SR 10 west of the Academy. Deputies were advised that the man was intoxicated and was soaking wet.
Deputy Jordan Rans and Culver Town Marshall Wayne Bean located the driver on E. Shore Drive just north of 18 B. Patrolmen Blake Bennett and Tony Bragg located the male on SR 10.
An investigation revealed that the female subject, Cheryl Straws, 34, of Troy, IL, and the male Vincnte Yanez, 34, of Williamsburg, VA had been in the same vehicle with their two-year-old child and an argument had ensued. Yanez got out of the vehicle and Straws left the area.
Straws was found to be intoxicated and was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for OWI .15 percent or more endangering a minor, and neglect of a dependent. Yanez was arrested on charges of neglect of a dependent, and public intoxication.
The Department of Child Services was contacted and took custody of the child, the Marshall County Humane Society took possession of a dog inside of the vehicle.
Suspects charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty.
