Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies along with Plymouth Police Department officers arrested a man for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Officers responded to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park located on Redwood Road in Plymouth Monday, July 3 just before 3:30 a.m. ET for a report of an individual discharging a firearm at the campground.
The suspect identified as 68-year-old Craig R. Topel reportedly advised individuals at the campground have been disturbing his peace very early in the morning. Topel told the officers that he was tired of the noise and wanted to sleep, according to the report.
He allegedly grabbed his revolver from his camper, went outside and fired one round into the grass to scare the individuals away.
Topel was transported, booked and lodged at the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary charge of Criminal Recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 Felony.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
