The Bourbon Town Council heard several department head reports during their regular meeting on July 11.
Public Works Department Superintendent Roger Terry updated the council on sidewalk and meter pit damage made by Cox Tree Service to private property on the 500 block of South Main. The homeowner contacted the Utilities Department for remedy. Cost of repairing the meter pit will total $150; five panels of sidewalk will total $2500.
President Ward Byers said he would be in contact with Cox Tree Service for reimbursement to the Town of Bourbon for repairs. Vice President Les McFarland noted that the sidewalk was in bad shape to begin with. Superintendent Terry responded that it wouldn’t have mattered what condition the sidewalk was in; replacement is now necessary and crossing it with a big truck should have been avoided.
Town of Bourbon Attorney Alex Hoover updated the council that an Initial Hearing for Karen Holm regarding small claims on unpaid water bills is scheduled for Marshall Superior Court No. 3 August 21 at 8:15 a.m. (Case Number 50D03-2306-SC-000268 / mycasein.gov). In addition to a lien, the judgment will be attachable to anything she owns and not just the property.
In other news, Attorney Hoover updated the council that several ordinance violations will be opened in Superior Court No. 2; as of the meeting he did not have those dates and times. Those violations include but are not limited to violations for junk cars. Attorney Hoover also reported that he sent a demand letter regarding some concrete obstructing a Right Of Way.
