The Plymouth Community School Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Plymouth Police Department to provide the corporation with two school resource officers for the coming year.
Bridget Hite, the current resource officer, will return to the post in the fall. Hite has successfully completed the training requirements for the coming year.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter told the board that the agreement includes a second officer, however Plymouth Police Department does not currently have adequate staff to dedicate a second member of the department as a resource officer.
Mawhorter said that the Plymouth Police Department does anticipate an increase in staff that would provide adequate numbers for an officer to be assigned during the term of the memorandum. The agreement allows for an officer to be assigned at that time.
