June 10 marks the Sesquicentennial celebration in the Town of LaPaz.
The LaPaz Town Council has begun working on plans for this year’s celebration which will include a parade at noon, and will close out the evening with a fireworks show.
The Cornerstone Community Church and the Lion’s Club will be teaming up to provide a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. ET and tenderloin sandwiches from noon throughout the rest of the day. Proceeds from the pancake breakfast will go toward fireworks for next year and all money collected from tenderloin sales will be put toward the park.
The council members are planning on welcoming more food trucks and will have a car and bike show after the parade.
Some other ideas include a bucket brigade competition, pie eating contest, three legged race, a beard and mustache contest, and much more. The LaPaz Town Council is looking for more suggestions from the public. If there’s something you’d like to see at the celebration, you can contact the council through the town’s website or the town’s Facebook page.
