Two Downtown Plymouth buildings could be revitalized and new sports could be coming to the Culver Town Park, as part of the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership’s READI application. The Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative lets regions apply for up to $50 million for quality of place and talent attraction.
In Plymouth, funding is being sought to renovate the State Bank building at 201 North Michigan. It would provide space for Marshall County Tourism, the Marshall County Arts Council, and a second-floor apartment/studio space for a new artist-in-residence program.
Meanwhile, 214 North Michigan could become the Montgomery Ward Commerce Center. It would be an accelerator and co-working space that could be used by innovators, current businesses, and students.
In Culver, funding is being sought to upgrade the Town Park’s basketball court to also include pickleball, shuffleboard, and hopscotch, while adding bike racks and a repair station.
The application also seeks funding for Ancilla College of Marian University’s workforce development efforts and a revolving loan fund to help attract new shell buildings and housing projects to Marshall County.
Seventeen regions have submitted READI applications, requesting more than $1 billion combined, according to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
