The number of Marshall County residents working continues to drop slightly. The county’s unemployment rate was unchanged for the month of August at 3.1 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
But the number of residents employed is believed to have dropped by more than 140, following a similar trend in the county’s labor force.
Elkhart County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.8 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at 4.4 percent. The state as a whole had a non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of four percent, while the national rate was 5.3 percent.
