Marshall County residents continue heading back to work, even as the unemployment rate creeps back up. The county’s May unemployment rate was 3.2 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s up from three percent the month before. But more Marshall County residents are joining the labor force, and the number of residents believed to be employed actually increased by 500 from April to May.
Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 3.1 percent, while Starke and St. Joseph counties are at five percent. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate rose to 4.5 percent, while the U.S. as a whole dipped to 5.5 percent.
