New COVID-19 cases are in the single digits in local counties. Marshall County had five new cases for a total of 5,456, according to Sunday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. Pulaski County had two new cases for a new total of 1,078. Starke County added one more case, pushing the total to 1,900.
Starke County has the highest seven-day all-tests positivity rate of the three counties at 6.9 percent. Marshall and Pulaski counties are both around two percent.
The state as a whole reported 748 new positive cases Sunday for a new overall total of 667,262 over the past year. Eleven new deaths were reported, bringing the state’s total confirmed death count to 12,310.
Almost 6,600 Marshall County residents have gotten the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, along with almost 3,100 in Starke County and almost 2,300 in Pulaski County. Almost 4,600 Marshall County residents are now fully vaccinated. That number is more than 1,600 in Starke County and more than 1,500 in Pulaski County.
