Marshall County’s unemployment rate continues to tick higher. The February unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s a tenth of a percent higher than it was the month before, but sixth-tenths of a percent higher than the same period last year, before the impact of COVID-19. The number of Marshall County residents working is believed to have dropped by 432 from January to February.
Elkhart County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 3.5 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at 6.1. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate stayed at 4.7 percent, while the U.S. dipped to 6.6 percent.
