The number of Marshall County residents working appears to be back to pre-pandemic levels, but the unemployment rate is creeping back up. The county’s January unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s up from 3.5 percent the month before and 3.4 percent in January of 2020. But Marshall County’s labor force has grown year-over-year, and the estimated number of residents working increased by almost 50.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and national levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate went up to 4.7 percent, while the U.S. rate rose to 6.8 percent. However, the seasonally adjusted rates went down.
