The number of new COVID-19 cases has ticked slightly higher. Another seven cases were reported in Marshall County, according to Saturday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. Starke and Pulaski counties each had four new cases.
The state as a whole added 1,449 cases to its count, the largest single-day increase in over a week. That brings the state’s total to 654,660. Another 14 deaths have been reported, pushing Indiana’s total confirmed death count to 11,912 since March of last year. The number of flu-related deaths reported by the Indiana Department of Health since the current flu season began in late September is four.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 vaccine distribution continues. The number of residents who’ve gotten the first dose is at 5,394 in Marshall County, 2,375 in Starke County, and 1,790 in Pulaski County, as of Saturday morning. Many of the shots given Friday were second doses. The number of people fully vaccinated is up to 2,763 in Marshall County and 837 in Starke County. The number of Pulaski County residents fully vaccinated has now surpassed the number of those who’ve tested positive for COVID-19: 1,089 full vaccinations compared to 1,051 positive cases.
