A former political candidate has been hit with a $200 fine by the Marshall County Election Board. Josh Walker reportedly turned in his campaign finance report five days late. On top of that, the beginning and ending balances didn’t match.
Clerk Deb VanDeMark says Walker turned in the reports with the requested amendments on Monday, and the board finalized the fine on Tuesday. “The statute is $50-a-day penalty for the report and $10 a day for incorrect reports,” VanDeMark explains. “The board decided to waive that portion of the fine and only charge him for four days of the fine.”
That’s in line with the $50 break given to Ward Byers and Karen Heim, who both missed last month’s deadline by two hours.
