Indiana will get almost $12.6 million as part of a multi-state settlement related to the opioid epidemic. Consulting firm McKinsey & Company has agreed to pay a total of $573 million to 46 states, Washington D.C., and five U.S. territories.
A statement from Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita says the state’s share of the money will go toward prevention, education, and treatment efforts.
McKinsey is accused of helping opioid manufacturers encourage doctors to over-prescribe the drugs. Then, some of its partners reportedly discussed the possibility of deleting documents and emails related to their work with Purdue Pharma.
