Marshall County’s unemployment rate continues to drop, but it remains higher than pre-COVID levels. The county’s December unemployment rate was 3.4 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s down from 4.2 percent the month before, but higher than the 2.8 percent reported in December of 2019. The estimated number of Marshall County residents working increased by 566 from November to December.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and national levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate dropped to four percent, while the U.S. rate ticked up to 6.5. Starke County has the highest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 5.1 percent, while Kosciusko County’s is lowest at 3.3.
