More COVID-19 relief will soon be going to Indiana’s Main Street communities. The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs has launched a second round of its Taking Care of Main Street program.
It will provide $5,000 to $25,000 to Main Street organizations, to help them support small businesses and keep up with regular operating expenses like salaries, administrative fees, office rental, and supplies. OCRA says the larger grants are designed to support advanced programs for mid-to-long-term recovery.
The Taking Care of Main Street program aims to fill the gap left by the cancellation of major fundraising events, as well as the reallocation of city and town funding during the pandemic. Main Street organizations have until February 12 to apply. Grant recipients will be announced February 25, and the payments will be made in the spring or early summer.
