Indiana is taking its contact tracing efforts online. State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box says, starting this week, Hoosiers will have the option to complete their contact tracing interviews online.
“When Hoosiers receive their initial text from contact tracers, it will include a link that is an alternative to calling the phone number,” Box said during Wednesday’s COVID-19 briefing. “Hoosiers will continue to receive text reminders during the initial 24-hour period. This doesn’t mean a person can’t still call.”
Meanwhile, Box said the shorter script for phone interviews has led to a 25-percent increase in the number of people completing interviews since November 1, with a 14-percent increase in the past week alone.
