A driver who was killed in a crash last month in Miami County has been identified as a rural Kewanna woman. Indiana State Police say Candace Girton, 29, died on November 24, when the car she was driving crossed the center line on State Road 16 and crashed head-on into a car going the other way, before catching on fire.
The other car escaped the fire when a nearby homeowner towed it away. Its driver was later extricated and flown to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition.
State Police say the Miami County Coroner’s Office was finally able to positively identify Girton with DNA testing.
