More Local Residents Test Positive for COVID-19 as Statewide Death, Hospitalization Numbers Increase

Another 38 Marshall County residents have tested positive for COVID-19. That brings the county’s total to 2,937, according to Tuesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. Starke County had another 16 positive cases for a new total of 906. Another nine Pulaski County residents have tested positive, for a total of 377.

Indiana had its highest single-day increase in the number of deaths, with 103 new deaths reported Tuesday. Most of those took place over the past few days, but one actually dates back to October. None of those newly-reported deaths were from the local area. The state’s total confirmed COVID-19 death count is now at 5,169.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Indiana continues to reach new highs, with 3,279 patients as of Monday. More than 306,000 Hoosiers have tested positive since March, including over 5,700 new cases reported Tuesday.
