Indiana Continues Breaking Records for New COVID-19 Cases, Hospitalizations

Indiana continues to shatter records for new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. Another 6,654 positive cases were reported in Thursday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. That’s almost 1,500 more than the previous single-day record set just a day earlier.

Indiana has 2,569 COVID-19 patients in the hospital, and the percentage of intensive care beds that are currently available is down to 22.

The steady increase in COVID-19 cases continues locally. Another 44 Marshall County residents have tested positive, pushing the total over 2,200. Starke County had another 17 new cases, bringing the total to 694, while Pulaski County had 12 more residents test positive, for a new total of 291.

Another 51 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in the state to 4,563. The Indiana Department of Health has added another backlog of earlier negative tests to its dashboard, amounting to nearly 5,700 historical tests on more than 2,700 individuals.
