Close contacts of COVID-19 patients are being reminded to follow through with quarantine requirements. The Marshall County Health Department says that those who’ve been in close contact with a conformed or probable COVID-19 case should quarantine for at least 14 days, even if they test negative themselves.
Health officials say it can take two to 14 days to become infected after exposure. Close contacts should wait five to six days to get tested, unless they develop symptoms sooner. The health department says a close contact is someone who’s been within six feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.
Those who get tested for COVID-19 should isolate at home while awaiting results. Those who test positive must stay home for at least 10 days and should not leave until symptoms improve and they’re fever-free for 24 hours.
