Marshall County residents continue heading back to work. The county’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 percent in August, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s down from 6.9 percent the month before but up from 3.1 percent during the same period last year. The estimated number of Marshall County residents working went up by 177 from July to August.
The trend was similar at the state and national levels. Indiana had a non-seasonally adjusted rate of 6.5 percent last month, while the U.S. rate was 8.5. St. Joseph County has the highest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 8.2 percent.
