Marshall County Reports First COVID-19 Death in Over a Month

Another Marshall County resident has died from COVID-19. It’s the county’s first COVID-19 death in over a month, according to Friday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. That brings the total number of deaths in the county up to 24. Marshall County also had one more positive case for a total of 975.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in Starke County continues to increase. Another seven residents have tested positive, bringing the county’s total to 245. Pulaski County had one new case for a total of 113.

The state as a whole added nearly 1,500 cases to its count. The Indiana Department of Health says that 1,037 of those are new cases, while 462 were “from a newly onboarded laboratory following corrections to a laboratory reporting error.” That brings the state’s total case count to 109,683.

A total of 3,270 Hoosiers are now confirmed to have died, with another 225 probable deaths believed to be COVID-related but with no positive test.
