Marshall County’s unemployment rate dropped by more than four percent last month. The county’s July unemployment rate was 6.9 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s down from 11.1 percent in June and a peak of more than 18 percent in April. But it’s far higher than it was in July of 2019, when the unemployment rate was just 3.1 percent. The report also shows that 19 more Marshall County residents were employed last month, compared to the month before.
The trend was similar at the state and national levels. Indiana had a non-seasonally adjusted rate of 7.9 last month, while the U.S. rate was 10.5 percent. Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 6.7 percent, while St. Joseph County’s is highest at 10.2.
