Plymouth Police are investigating a possible murder at a home in the 900 block of North Plum Street. Officers say they were called to the residence just after 9:00 Sunday morning, after getting a report of a possible stabbing.
Police say they tried to make contact with a man inside the home, but he tried to flee through the back door. He allegedly resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody.
Meanwhile, firefighters were called to deal with a fire in the home. Once it was put out, police say a body was discovered.
The man taken into custody has been identified as Duane N. Longacre, 35, of Plymouth. Plymouth Police were assisted by Plymouth Fire and EMS, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County coroner, Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Indiana State Fire Marshal.
Officers say the investigation is ongoing, and they’ll release more information once it becomes available.
