A third Starke County resident has died after testing positive for COVID-19. The Starke County Health Department says the patient was a woman over the age of 60 who had preexisting conditions.
Health officials say she’d been hospitalized and tested positive for COVID-19. She died at LaPorte Hospital on Monday. No additional information about her will be released due to privacy laws.
The Starke County Health Department also confirmed Wednesday that the number of positive COVID-19 cases is now at 28. A 28th case had previously been reported by the state, but local health officials determined that it was a duplicate report. However, the Starke County Health Department says a new positive case was identified on Tuesday, bringing the official count back to 28.
