Trying to flee from police while under the influence of alcohol with his two kids in the minivan is what police say landed a Plymouth man in jail Thursday night. Marshall County Police say that just after 11:30 p.m., they were made aware of a drunk driver with his two juvenile children with him. A short time later, they were reportedly told that the man was going to a home in the 13,000 block of 5th Road.
Officers say they saw the minivan approaching the residence, but it made a u-turn and tried to flee. The vehicle allegedly continued down the road for about a half mile, did a second u-turn, and kept driving with a back sliding door open. Police say the minivan eventually pulled into a residence, and the children were able to get out safely.
The driver, Jesse Lynn Heminger, 38, was taken to the Marshall County Jail for allegedly operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or more with a prior conviction, operating while intoxicated with passengers under 18, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, neglect of a dependent, and possession of marijuana.
