More than 152,000 Hoosier households are expected to see their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits increase starting Sunday. The federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act lets states give SNAP recipients the maximum SNAP allotment based on household size, according to the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration.
That ranges from $194 for a one-person household up to $1,164 for eight people. Those already getting the maximum benefit won’t receive more. The increase takes effect with the April distribution, which takes place between April 5 and 23 on a schedule based on the first letter of recipients’ last name. The FSSA says new applications authorized in April will also get the maximum allotment.
