Governor Eric Holcomb may be looking to ease his stay-at-home order, but that doesn’t mean local governments can’t keep more restrictions in place. During his COVID-19 briefing Thursday, the governor stressed that local jurisdictions can always be stricter than his state-level measures.
“We will not strip away any local authority that wants to go above and beyond the recommendations or the standards that we’re setting for our whole state,” Holcomb explained. “That also doesn’t mean that one size fits all from a state perspective, as well.” Holcomb said the state will always seek to work with local officials who are concerned about reopening.
The governor will announce updates to his stay-at-home order during a press conference Friday at 2:30 p.m. EDT. He says the reopening will be in stages and will be based on current data.
