Governor Launches #INthistogether Campaign to Flatten COVID-19 Curve

State officials and business leaders are taking to social media to try to flatten the COVID-19 curve. Governor Eric Holcomb launched the #INthistogether campaign during his press conference Wednesday.

“You’ll be seeing some familiar and, dare I say, legendary faces representing the #INthistogether campaign, including MVPs like Victor Oladipo and Tamika Catchings, to name just a couple,” Holcomb said. “And our shared goal is simple and straight-forward. It is we need to act now, and by doing so, we all are going to save lives.”

The campaign urges Hoosiers to stay home when possible, avoid close physical contact, and take care of themselves, among other tips. Residents are encouraged to show how they’re practicing social distancing using the hashtag #INthistogether.

Governor Holcomb urged Hoosiers not to gamble with their own lives or those of others. “The good news is we can fight back,” he said. “We can slow the spread. We can flatten the curve. We know that COVID-19, this coronavirus, does not discriminate. We know that it can infect the healthy. It can infect the young. Maybe you won’t be infected, but we know that it will use you to kill others.”

Indiana is currently under a stay-at-home order for nonessential businesses and activities through Monday. The governor hasn’t officially extended it yet, but he said he plans to issue more executive orders in the coming days. “I don’t want anyone to get complacent or think that this is soon to be in our rear-view mirror,” Holcomb said Wednesday. “We’re sailing into this storm together, and we’re going to need every hand on deck to negotiate these rocky, shallow waters ahead. So prepare to stay hunkered down, Hoosiers.”
