Steps are being taken to make sure those using Medicaid and other Indiana Health Coverage Programs can maintain their coverage during the COVID-19 public health emergency. That includes members of the Healthy Indiana Plan, Hoosier Care Connect, and Hoosier Healthwise.
Full program members will not have their health coverage terminated during the emergency, according to the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration. Coverage will only end if members voluntarily withdraw or move out of the state. However, those who are presumptively eligible still have to complete a full application.
The FSSA also says that all cost sharing will be suspended during the public health emergency. That includes co-payments for all Indiana Health Coverage Programs, as well as premiums and POWER Account contributions for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Healthy Indiana Plan, and MEDWorks for March through August. Coverage now starts as soon as eligibility is determined and will no longer require a first payment in order to take effect.
Additionally, pharmacies are now allowed to fill prescriptions with name-brand drugs, if they run out of generic versions. They can also fill maintenance prescriptions for 90 days and fill some prescriptions early.
