Marshall County’s unemployment rate has moved slightly lower. Its December unemployment rate was 2.9 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s down from three percent the month before and 3.1 percent in December of 2018. The estimated number of Marshall County residents employed rose by 63 from November to December, but remained lower than it was a year before.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate dropped to three percent for December, while the U.S. as a whole rose to 3.4 percent. Elkhart and Kosciusko counties have the lowest unemployment rates of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.7 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at four percent.
