The corporation calendar for the 2020-2021 School Year was presented to Plymouth School Board members Tuesday night.
Superintendent Andy Hartley said the calendar was created after receiving feedback from teachers and students through discussions as well as surveys.
Hartley noted that an adjustment was made to the start date.
He explained, “There was a desire to start school a week later than what we have been. This helps in filling some last minute staffing that we’ve experienced and that many districts are experiencing at the start of school so that would give us another week to fill them if we have them.”
The first day back for students will be Wednesday, August 12th.
Superintendent Hartley also shared that winter break is scheduled to start on a Wednesday, which is a little out of the ordinary.
He noted, “Winter break starts mid-week which we have not had to do in a while but that’s done in order to allow the first semester to end prior to winter break.”
The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s 2020/21 Calendar was approved unanimously. Superintendent Hartley noted that there is a chance that some amendments may be brought back to the board for future consideration.
