Gas prices ended 2019 almost 50 cents higher, on average in Indiana, than where they began the year. That’s according to statistics from GasBuddy. The state’s average was at $2.52 a gallon, as of Tuesday afternoon.
In his weekly update, GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis Patrick DeHaan said gas prices have started to move up after a seven-week decline, following a drop in oil inventories. But prices may ease as demand weakens in January and February. More detailed predictions can be found in GasBuddy’s 2020 Fuel Outlook, released yesterday.
DeHaan also offered some end-of-decade statistics: Over the past 10 years, the U.S. as a whole consumed 1.25 trillion gallons of gas, spent $3.625 trillion on gasoline, and drove 31.25 trillion miles.
