Marshall County’s unemployment rate continues to go up. Its November unemployment rate was 3.1 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s up from 2.8 percent the month before and three percent in November of 2018. The county’s labor force continues to shrink, and the actual number of people employed has also gone down.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was 3.2 percent for November, while the U.S. as a whole remained at 3.3 percent. Elkhart County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.8 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at four percent.
