Marshall County’s Director of Community Corrections will represent agencies throughout the state following an election that occurred during the Indiana Association of Community Corrections Act Counties’ Annual Fall Conference in November.
Director Ward Byers was elected president of the IACCAC and commented on the distinction, noting that he was grateful to be selected by his colleagues from around the state.
As president, he will work closely with the Indiana Department of Correction and the Indiana Legislature on matters concerning community based supervision in the state. Byers commented that he’s honored to have the opportunity to do so.
According to a press release issued by Marshall County Community Corrections, Byers recently served as President-Elect and has served on the Associations Legislative Committee where he testified numerous times during the 2019 Legislative Session on matters pertaining to Community Corrections.
He also testified in November before the Indiana Jail Overcrowding Task Force when they met in Anderson, Indiana.
Byers commented that he plans to represent the mission of IACCAC which is to promote and facilitate the professional identity, development and enhancement of community-based corrections.
